History and heritage

The Clear Doncaster branch originated as ProAktive, founded by Barry Atkinson and Tony Smith in 1975. Although a general insurance brokerage, the branch also specialise in professional risks, engineering, construction, private clients and much more. Self Build developed the first UK self build insurance policy in 1984 and the Risk Management arm emerged in 2003. Clear acquired the business in 2022.
