Interview with our HR Business Partner, Hayley Lether
If you’re looking for a fast-paced work environment where you’re recognised and rewarded for your hard work, innovation and can-do attitude, then come and join us on one of our apprenticeship programmes.
An apprenticeship at the Clear Group gives you the chance to be part of a growing company striving for the very best for both its clients and employees. It will equip you with the vital skills and experience to build a successful career in an exciting industry. In return, we are looking for apprentices who are ambitious, enthusiastic and keen to learn.
To provide more information about our Apprenticeship Programme, we interviewed our HR Business Partner Hayley Lether:
Why did Clear start the apprenticeship programme?
To grow talent and develop individuals to ensure we have a skilled workforce. We need to ensure we have upcoming talent for future roles within the business and we also see it as an important avenue to bring new skills and to diversify our workforce. We also like to provide individuals with the opportunity to enter the insurance industry and gain a qualification.
What are the main outcomes from completing the apprenticeship programmes with Clear?
To develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a successful insurance practitioner.
We have developed the programme to allow our apprentices the ability to learn the key roles and responsibilities for their chosen area of work - whether that be claims or broking. The apprenticeship programme has a specialist module in each area to increase their technical knowledge which then assists with their understanding of completing the practical elements and day to day duties of a role.
Following completion of the apprenticeship, the individuals should be equipped with both the technical knowledge and skills to build a good foundation for a future career path in insurance.
Are there any requirements to be an applicant to an apprenticeship programme?
Different apprenticeship programmes may have different requirements. We are ideally looking for individuals to have a minimum of five GCSEs at Grades A*-C or 9 – 4 (including English & Maths) or equivalent qualifications, and to have completed a BTEC or A-Level.
How long do the apprenticeship programmes run?
The apprenticeship programmes run for 18 months.
What does going through an apprenticeship programme enable for career progression?
By the end of the apprenticeship programme apprentices are equipped with a good understanding of the insurance industry and the relevant area they have been trained in, alongside obtaining the recognised industry qualification – Cert CII. This is a brilliant first step to kickstart a career in insurance and lead to permanent roles in their professional area of choice.
Do the programmes enable any skills outside of the specialised area(s)?
Absolutely! Soft skill development is just as important. An apprentice programme will also focus on areas such as building effective relationships, effective teamwork and how to deliver great customer service. It looks at all the transferable skills you need to succeed professionally and personally. We look to provide additional workshops outside the formal apprenticeship programme that addresses some of these important areas.
