This is an inspirational achievement for everyone at BHL and the Clear Group and a testament to BHL’s drive, focus and commitment to ‘make work better’. It is also the hallmark of a conscientious employer and the product of an outstanding workplace, and we should all feel very proud of this well-deserved accolade.
What is Investors in People?
The Investors in People Framework came about in response to the ever-evolving needs and challenges of employers and their staff. It offers employers a practical and authoritative way to measure progress and improvement in the workplace, and to attain one of its accreditations is widely acknowledged as the benchmark of a well-run organisation.
The IIP accreditation process, which has been running for nearly thirty years, can help business leaders and their employees establish a more collaborative and effective work environment and improve efficiency over time. Investors in People has already accredited over 50,000 organisations from all types of professions and industries, and their ‘We Invest in People’ accreditation is now recognised in 66 countries.
Measuring up to expectations
BHL’s assessment was undertaken by an independent assessor and took place during August, following an extension to the silver accreditation due to the pandemic. The assessment involved a business-wide online staff survey, meetings with senior managers, and one-to-one meetings with selected staff from a range of teams and office locations. In addition to granting the gold standard, the assessor’s findings will help BHL’s leadership understand where the business has excelled and highlight what the business still needs to accomplish if it’s to forge ahead to the platinum accreditation.
BHL’s journey to improved business performance
BHL has participated in the IIP accreditation framework for some years now, starting with the standard accreditation in 2014 and progressing to the bronze standard in 2016. In 2018 it attained the silver, and this month the IIP has awarded BHL the gold standard. Moving from one landmark stage to another has involved the introduction of new systems and processes across the business as well as a consistent and sustained campaign of communications to encourage managers and staff to work more closely together. Overcoming the challenges and disruption of the pandemic last year, BHL has managed to implement further improvements, securing its reputation as an organisation that takes investing in its people seriously.
Raising BHL’s profile as an investor in people
Achieving such a high standard also sends a clear signal to BHL’s competitors, customers, recruitment candidates and employees that the business is fully committed to learning and development best practices and people management excellence. It also demonstrates that proper steps are being taken to attract and retain talent while promoting a positive and productive working environment.
Congratulations, and well done to everyone at BHL!
