History and heritage

The Sheffield office houses a number of acquired brands, previously known as IFM, Peter Hoare and ProAktive Risk Management.

IFM Insurance Brokers was founded by Ian Frank Micklethwaite in 1975. Since then, IFM has grown into one of the largest brokers in South Yorkshire. It was acquired by Clear in March 2023.

Peter Hoare & Co Insurance Brokers was established in 1964. Since its inception, the business quickly became one of Yorkshire's largest independent insurance brokers. Clear acquired the business in November 2023, continuing their long-standing relationship with the British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA).

ProAktive first originated in 1975 and the Risk Management specialism was developed in 2003. Clear acquired ProAktive in 2022 and the brand shares its history with a second branch located in Doncaster.
