The events of October 2021 on the River Cleddau serve as a grim warning to adventure tourism operators everywhere. Four lives were tragically lost on that date – Paul O'Dwyer, Andrea Powell, Morgan Rogers, and Nicola Wheatley – in a paddleboarding tour that should never have taken place. Heavy flooding and severe weather warnings had been issued, yet the tour went ahead, ultimately resulting in participants being swept over a hazardous weir.
